The 1000 Most Visited Sites On The Web: Plan Your Online Display Advertising

Google/Doubleclick has published what it sees as the 1000 most visited sites on the web, helping out the online display advertiser with some solid ranking info.

Not only does the list rank the sites, it has content/function categories unique user counts, reach percentage (reach as percentage of entire web) and whether or not the site has advertising.

It's an ideal bit of formatted yet raw data you can use to make determinations about the web at large when you're building an online display advertising campaign strategy.  Get a sense of popular content with a little more specificity than usual; grab lines from the report, drop into a spreadsheet and crank out some rankings and visuals to serve your own needs.

A quick slice-n-dice with a spreadsheet shows the top 100 sites have (for April 2010) an average user count of 71.8 million with an average page view count of 10.1 billion.  You might say the average top 100 user saw 141.4 pages per month.

Sort by content type, or reach or any criteria you want to get a display advertiser's glimpse inside the top 1000 sites on the web.
